This was shot at Kumamoto-jō in October 2007. The Castle is in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, and the fortifications are terrifically well-preserved. The castle itself is a reconstruction based on original plans, as it was destroyed in the Satsuma rebellion in 1877.
Taken with the trusty Canon EOS 20D / Sigma lens combination. I’ll root out the lens specs for you later, I promise.
This was an experimental shot to see what the camera would decide if I put it in full automatic mode. The downside, of course, is that it chooses to shoot JPEG when you do that.
